This session was, for this year, the most memorable so far.
When we arrived at the beach, a secluded beach I must add, we were greeted by the whole of Camps Bay. They decided that day, is beach day and we were faced with a setting sun, limited time, no space and countless children playing in the water as if it was the last day of summer.
With nervous laughs we tried to move around the people and I was being careful to calculate the amount of photoshopping that will be needed to get all these happy people out of the photographs. I don’t know exactly when it happened or how, but I was focused on the correct lighting, making sure my clients are perfectly posed and then a silence fell. I looked up from my viewfinder and there they were, all the people that were playing and having a ball, neatly seated on the beach. Not a soul in the water. They gave us the beach, for a whole 25 minutes, they sat, patiently, some oo’ing and aa’ing when the new parents kissed.
This was an amazing selfless act of so many people, they saw what needed to happen, and they wasted no time to, between themselves work out a plan for me and my lovely clients.
Thank you Camps Bay residents, you guys made our day.
